Move ease

For the first post of June, I'm introducing a new feature to SFTC. I'd like to call it a recurring feature but who knows if I'll do it again. (Hasn't worked out so well for Stuff I'm Starting to Like / Stuff I Still Don't Get, which I inaugurated back in January and have yet to bring back.)

The new idea: Six-word movie reviews! First up are two current releases. The theme here is brevity, so let's get right to 'em.

1. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: Jones still cool. Story mostly disappointing.
2. Sex and the City: Didn't see it. Seems very pink.

Clearly I'll need to see some more theatrical releases if SWMR is going to last. But -- anyone else agree with this? -- there are approximately no movies out right now that I give a rat's ass about. I've seen Iron Man and Sarah Marshall (both great), and I would have gone to a show on Saturday night but couldn't find anything remotely interesting in the papers. Now might be a good time for Buck Henry to get going on that Graduate sequel.

Hey, how 'bout another SFTC complimentary free download gift giveaway!?!? First person to identify the movie that featured Buck discussing that very idea wins a free iTunes download. And you pick the song. What could be better?

love the 6 word review idea. love even more that you are willing to review movies you havent even seen. agree that nothing else is good in the theater now, but i am getting excited for batman, wanted and kung fu panda!

Thanks. I don't know about Wanted. Have to look that up.
I have to admit, the six-word review gave me some trouble. In the first version of this, one review was four words, the other was seven.

The movie is THE PLAYER. I WIN.

I thought SATC was cute. I mean, it's not going to be nominated for any awards, but it was a fun two hours of pure superficiality.

Didn't see Indy, but Rob haaaated it. He's uber-critical, though. I assume I'd enjoy parts of it Here's a link to his review, if ya care:

SATC: Not even any MTV Movie Awards (or VH1, or whoever does those things?)

Indy: Rob's review is right on -- I agree with everything he wrote, as well as some of the comments posted (surviving three humongous waterfalls in a little boat -- wha?). Why make parts of the movie realistic and the rest of it completely preposterous?

are spouses allowed to win?

Let me check the rules....

Yes, it says, right here in paragraph 7b., "... sayeth that spouses and sisters are eligible to participate in, and may in fact win, the trivia prize award contests (herein, contests)..."

So I guess it's cool.

You may want to contact your legal counsel regarding family winning your contests. Oh wait, I just remembered that I won once before so I.......ethical quandry I guess

I think at some point we should make a list of all the "new features" we've added to our respective blogs that we've never followed up on. I've probably got at least five. I'm still reading magazines that you're not reading...but too lazy to write about it, I guess.

That's an excellent idea. Maybe we could actually make that list itself a new recurring feature. Whoa!
